The Aprilaire 224 and Aprilaire 112 are unique humidifying systems in that they use evaporation to increase the humidity, instead of directly putting water into the air like many other systems.

The Aprilaire 112 water panel evaporator has a filter life of about 6 months - the dimensions of this Aprilaire humidifier evaporator filter are approximately 11 1/2" x 14 3/4" x 1 5/8".
